Books for Autism

Hello all.

I have created a new blog, which is exclusively created to highlight my books, eBooks and articles regarding the autism spectrum.

Anyone who is interested in the autism spectrum, whether you be a parent, educator, other professional, friend, family member or a person on the spectrum, can choose which product suits their interests or needs and can purchase one of my Ebooks, paperbacks or articles, some for not much more than the cost of a cup of coffee.

"Books for Autism"

I am currently in the process of adding my eBooks, articles, books and other related pieces of information, so this new site will gradually be built upon with various subjects regarding the autism spectrum.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Social skills training videos

Hi folks.

I thought I would share with you some great videos on social skills ideas for persons on the Autism Spectrum.
They a produced with a great bunch of professionals and persons on the Spectrum.
I feel these are the sort of videos which can relate ideas in a way which many young persons, who may be struggling a little with social interactions, could be very comfortable with and find enjoyable. Personally, I have observed increased social skills training successes when the autistic person is actually 'relating' with another person on the Spectrum who can share their ideas and similar peer related feelings and skills with one another or in a group.
The video below uses a robot (in a space theme) to complement several interactions.
It is terrific.

The website is called 9th Planet

I feel it is one of the best sources of social skills assistance I have seen for a while.

Here's an introductory video for you all to have a look at - enjoy ;)

Back in 2014

Hello again folks.

I have been absent from my blog for some time now, due to having taken approximately 2 years overall off my work due to ill health.
I have jotted the odd post and article on sites such as LinkedIn and a couple of others, but have not been practicing in the counselling field. In my 'time-off' writing has still been one of my obsessive pleasures, and I have mountains of notes weighing down my desk currently.
Also recently I was commissioned to co-write for a new developmental model for the Autism Spectrum - details of which I will elaborate on soon. This model is still in the process of being finalized and is yet to be passed by a medical/psychology board at a university in England. It was an honor to have been chosen as a co-author for this project and I was very humbled to have received the request.
I also write/post for a website's general science section, regarding earthquake activity (another of my passions -seismology/geology).

In 2014, I will be writing articles and ebooks regarding the Autism Spectrum. Some of these articles will be freely available to read and use on your websites and elsewhere, whilst others (including my books) will be available for purchase, hopefully through this website. I am in the process of piecing everything together and getting a bit better tech savvy in the process :)

Thankyou to those folks who have still been visiting my blog or are new to visiting here. It will be an even better place to pop in on in 2014 and in the meantime you may see some changes to the blog here and there.

Cheers to you all,
Louise

"An Autism Connection" - book

Just a note for those of you who may be interested in purchasing my book - "An Autism Connection - sharing the Journey with other parents", you can download a copy for (US) $10 from the Lulu Publishing site.

Gaining a copy of this book this way can definitely save you having to wait for it to arrive by mail and save your $ as well.

If you go to my Lulu store front, you will see some reviews by other interested persons and, soon I hope to have other wonderful reviews posted by parents who have read this book.
If you do purchase this book, I would be very interested in your feedback on it. You can email me on realistartinoz@yahoo.com.au

Currently, apart from setting up my private practice in Professional counselling (for parents and carers of children on the autism spectrum), I have begun writing another book which surrounds the topics of self esteem, empowerment of ones self and building resistance/coping mechanisms in regards to adverse elements of life. I particularly have in mind those persons on the spectrum and other individuals experiencing other differing abilities. But it could be of interest to anyone really who is experiencing some self esteem/confidence, social or other challenges in their life.
It's definitely a work-in-progress at the moment which I hope to finalize in a few months time.

The cover of this book will display one of Donna Williams beautiful paintings. Donna is a tremendously interesting and gifted lady, from Australia, who is on the autism spectrum. If you want to see examples of Donna's many talents, please click on the link to her site in the links field, right.
